Madison County Undersheriff Doug Bailey reports that Deputies are continuing their investigation into the cause of death of a man found partially in the water of the south shore of Oneida Lake in the Town of Sullivan.
The discovery was made at about 7:42 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Deputies have identified the deceased male as Lajos Szabo, 75, of Frederick Street, East Syracuse, New York.
Szabo had been at a Black Point Road residence in the area about one hour prior to being found. Szabo had left the residence wearing waders and intended to fish the shoreline. He was found after friends and neighbors in the immediate area commenced a search after Mr. Szabo failed to return as darkness fell.
Deputies report that there was no evidence of trauma nor was there any evidence of foul play.
The investigation into the death is continuing. Deputies are awaiting the results of an autopsy/examination being conducted at the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s office.
